After completing his doctoral research in structural biology at Yale University in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Dr. DeDecker continued his studies in England at the University of Cambridge with the Centre
for Protein Engineering.
Returning to the states, he was a research fellow at Harvard University with the Institute of Chemistry and Cell Biology before moving to the University of Colorado at Boulder as a director in the Molecular,
Cellular & Developmental Biology Department.
While studying Chemical & Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, Simon developed a passion for synthetic biology and its abundance of commercial applications.
As a member of the 2017 CU Boulder iGEM team, Simon began research on another project under the direction of Dr. DeDecker. This project would eventually become Seedling Biosystems.
Having served as Senior Vice President, Tax for Hyatt Hotels Corporation Pat retired after 37 years as a tax professional. Prior to joining Hyatt, Pat had been the Vice President, Tax at YUM! Brands and Vice President, International Tax for the PepsiCo Restaurants International division, and Director of Tax for KFC.
Pat is a member of the Advisory Board of Directors of the Master of Science in Taxation program with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a guest speaker on international tax in the department.
